The International Karate Organization Kyokushinkaikan (herein known as IKO Sosai) being the legal entity representing Sosai’s Karate is the only one that is committed to preserving Sosai’s legacy for subsequent generations. Going by a simple philosophy whereby all students can be connected directly to Honbu, either through their Shihan / Sensei(s) or by contacting Honbu direct. Many Dojo(s) can teach according to Sosai’s teachings, but only those endorsed by IKO Sosai’s Honbu can pass on the very “spirit” of Sosai.

As such, we are training in the idealism of Sosai’s world peace and universal brotherhood. However, we extend this idea further by putting it into actions…how? By being open to all and welcoming all who have a genuine interest in being of service to Sosai in passing on the spirit of Kyokushin Karate. The very purpose of IKO Sosai’sHonbu and all affiliated braches is to act as a gateway which connects you to the “source” of Kyokushin Karate, Sosai himself. Only by putting our desires to see Sosai’s Kyokushin Karate endure and progress into the next millennium can we possibly achieve this, and we do so with utmost integrity and not skive on the very efforts of Sosai who single-handedly created Kyokushin Karate, or leech off Sosai’s intellectual property rights.

Our basic goals are:
• To return the loyal dedication of the students worldwide back to the origin: the founder of Kyokushin Karate Sosai Mas Oyama. We still believe in your love and respect for Sosai.

• To encourage all members dedicated to the spirit of Sosai that the Way of Kyokushin Karate is not only demonstrated through the number of gold stripes on the belt, or the size of the dojo, but in the way we conduct ourselves in daily life.

• As a student of the IKO, you are given a privilege to represent Sosai’s Karate. This is a genuine honor once clearly understood. And whilst every privilege has its responsibilities, the burden of responsibility will be shared by all, including Sosai’s family, the IKO Kyokushinkaikan, and all affiliated branches, so do not fear! We each have our duties to fulfill for Sosai’s Kyokushin and it may take a little spiritual probing to see exactly what those duties are for us. But we all have our place here.

In bringing to mind the final verse of Sosai’s Dojo Kun, “All our lives through the discipline of karate, we will seek to fulfill the true meaning of Kyokushin Way”.
